About Dr. Rajani
I am Dr. Irfan Rajani, a dedicated family physician with a passion for delivering comprehensive healthcare. My journey in the medical field began at the University of British Columbia, where I completed my pharmacy training in 2013, leading to a fulfilling career as a community pharmacist in the Lower Mainland. My background in pharmacy is invaluable in identifying drug therapy issues and interactions, as well as in navigating appropriate de-prescribing for my patients.
Eager to broaden my horizons, I pursued medical school at the esteemed University of Limerick in Ireland. After returning to Canada, I completed my residency training at UBC’s Victoria site, marking the beginning of my practice as a family physician in July 2021.
My expertise extends beyond general family medicine. I am certified in travel medicine by the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM) as of 2015, ensuring I can provide specialized care for patients planning to travel.
I also have a special interest and training in geriatric care. I’m dedicated to providing comprehensive support that goes beyond traditional medical care, focusing on the overall well-being of our elderly patients
In the area of mental health, I have substantial experience in talk therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and motivational interviewing. I am dedicated to ensuring patients feel heard and to employing these techniques with compassion, aiding patients in becoming their best selves.
What Sets Dr. Rajani Apart
The traditional medical model tends to focus on fixing individual symptoms, rather than viewing each patient as a whole being whose thoughts, feelings, behaviours and physical body are intrisicly connected and intertwined. In contrast, my practice provides a personalized care plan that addresses each aspect of a patient’s health – physical, mental and emotional – and examines how these aspects are tied together, creating either function or dysfunction in the patient as a whole.

Diverse Medical Background
My unique journey through the fields of pharmacy and medicine has equipped me with a broad and in-depth understanding of healthcare. This dual expertise allows me to care for my patients with a holistic approach, ensuring that every aspect of their health is considered.

Leadership in Community Health
My roles in various health initiatives, like the Clinical Pharmacy Strategy and Indigenous Wellness Program, demonstrate a commitment to not just individual health, but also to the health of the community. This leadership experience enables me to advocate effectively for patient needs at both individual and systemic levels.

International Medical Education
Training in Ireland exposed me to a variety of healthcare systems and practices, equipping me with a broad perspective on different medical approaches and treatments. This international experience is invaluable in understanding and treating a diverse patient population.
